2025 State Recap!
Dear HCHS community and Latin Club,
This past weekend, 94 members of the HCHS Latin Club visited Belaire High School in Houston to participate in the Texas State Junior Classical League Convention. We frolicked in Hermann Park, made a bunch of friends, competed in dozens of contests, and came away with over 100 individual awards and our 20th state sweepstakes championship!
Some highlights:
Shani Tripathy was elected state 2nd VP for next year
Walid Iqbal won the Aristotle Scholarship
Aadhi Kannan, Achu Thumatichandrasekaran, Arpita Biswal, Helen Lan, and Kavin Selvagiri all received High Point trophies for the highest overall score in their categories
Amara Mumphord, Fatima Alsaffar, and Paige Dewlen were all elected as officers of the Texas Senior Classical League (for college students) for next year

Major thanks to our alumnae Emma Buhrman, Ainsley Weiss (who flew down from Iowa), and Bella Brown for helping to shepherd our kids around, and to parents Takorie Temmis, Tania Sanchez, Taner Kaya, and Amy Apodaca for chaperoning and being extremely helpful!
